Shepherdstown, WV (C&O 72.8) to Leesburg, VA via White’s Ferry (C&O 35.5)

Today’s ride will start on the canal and end with road riding into Leesburg, VA.  Traffic will be present.  Group riding and helmets are a must.  The canal section contains the beautiful Harpers Ferry (keep an eye out for kayakers).  Today we will cross the Appalachian Trail and the Monocacy Aqueduct, a 500 foot, seven arch, stone bridge used to carry the canal over the Monocacy River. The aqueduct took 4 years to build and was completed in 1833.  We will cross the Potomac River on White’s Ferry ($2 for bikes $5 for cars) and then peddle uphill to Leesburg, VA
